Where I Stand

My personal philosophy stands as my foundation for media work. For more about my personal philosophy, particularly as it concerns an actual topic covered by the media online, see the PDF on the right side of this page.

Ethical delivery of media content & deportment

I find the exploitation of interviewees via misuse of soundbites, the sexual objectification of people, and the practice of defamation to be reprehensible. Fact-checking and investigation into historical events reveal my ethical commitment to diligence and authenticity. I believe that admissions of prior error in news coverage, like hard news coverage itself, are necessary and must be timely.

My ethical commitment extends to the fair treatment of coworkers, subordinates, and superiors in the workplace, as well as beyond the job.

Diligent epistemological investigation into the facts

The online world offers a great opportunity for further investigation of opinions and historical details. If I as a media professional fail to adequately investigate, my critics will not make the same mistake. For the sake of my own testimony as well as the reputation of the media organizations that I work for, I am dedicated to quality fact-checking and investigative journalism.

Logical content construction

I believe the manner in which I piece together media content should lead to reader, viewer, and listener comprehension of my work with as few distractions as possible.

Sharp intentional aesthetics
A split second of a media piece can determine whether it succeeds or fails. Although style should not trump substance, sharp advertising and programming are essential for reaching a wide audience. Quality production breeds quantity consumption. I believe that if you do something, do it right and do it for God's glory.
