All Star Broadcast Interview:

Trevor Baker

      For this, I mildly edited a pre-recorded interview. I interviewed the team manager for the guys Bruins basketball team (Bob Jones University). This piece aired on shoutcast.com, and includes about 2/3 of the total interview. I employed technologies essential to the media profession and wrote interview questions in a format appropriate for the context of the media message

      For this, I employed technologies essential to the media profession. I was the producer for the project, selecting the musicians and vocalists as well as organizing them for independent recording events. I edited for this project, using splicing, reverb, multi-track, noise reduction, and panning.

      For this, I wrote clearly and correctly, using the copywriting format apt for the context of the media message. I employed technologies essential to the media profession. I also did a portion of the background research for the mock commercial campaign as a whole.

      For this, I was the radio announcer talent, using a newsy yet somewhat conversational style. I wrote clearly and correctly, using the format

appropriate for the context of the media message. I employed technologies essential to the media profession. I also did a portion of the background research for the content of the podcasts, aired on shoutcast.com.

Media Relations Animal Care Campaign

          I wrote clearly and correctly, using the formats appropriate to the context of the media message. I employed technologies essential to the media profession. I gathered, evaluated, and disseminated info in a variety of media environments. I applied biblical, ethical, and legal principles to a variety of media situations.

          I met with the client, participated in group planning sessions, conducted about half of the research, did much of the preliminary writing, and made a large portion of the PowerPoint used in our presentation to pitch the campaign idea to the client (upon submitting the manual for evaluation).

1st Amendment Research Project

          For my analysis of 1st Amendment issues, I conducted a non-scientific survey of various students at Bob Jones University concerning their views about relevant 1st Amendment issues. I conducted the research as a part of my media law and ethics course.

Legal Brief

          For my legal brief, I demonstrated my ability to evaluate and disseminate info while applying biblical, ethical, and legal principals to a plausible media scenario of possible political scandal.

Career Research Paper

          For my career research paper, I demonstrated my ability to analyze the general media climate concerning job prospects, particularly in my own hometown of Louisville, KY, where I plan to return after college in Greenville, SC.

Research Essay on Media Bias
Media Essay on Postman & Scripture

          I wrote this paper in order to articulate a philosophy of mass media that reflects a Christian worldview. This paper I typed for my media and society class during the final exam time (less than two hours).

          I did the background research necessary, applying personal experience to help solve the questions posed concerning Neil Postman’s views on media and the Biblical worldview.

          This project demonstrated my quotation and organization skills in argumentation writing. It also reinforced my learning in comparing and contrasting worldviews concerning mass media production and use.

          I wrote this paper in order to articulate a philosophy of mass media that reflects a Christian worldview as well as to help develop my views concerning media news bias.

         I did the background research necessary, as evidenced by the bibliography.

          This project also demonstrated my quotation and organization skills in argumentation writing.
